The Sorrow Of Everyday Life: A Look

The Sorrow Of Everyday Life: A Look

| On 16, Jan 2019

Some of us find it easy to express our emotions through tears, while others do not give in easily. However, at the end of us, all of us have our ways of grieving when we make mistakes. There is no end to wrong choices because to be human is to err. They can be inconsequential or significant; all errors tend to fill us with suffering and regret. However, that does not stop us from repeating the same mistakes over and over again.

We can commit mistakes due to many reasons. It might be because of ignorance or force of habit. We also tend to misunderstand certain things, and then create wrong notions about them.

Giving in to social pressure, family pressure or peer pressure can also lead us to make mistakes that we cannot repair later on. A combination of all these factors can also force us to make mistakes that end up in guilt and misery.

Spiritual liberation: According to The Bhagwad Gita, ignorance is the primary reason behind all human problems. Knowledge and reason are clouded by ignorance, and that can lead to a lack of good sense. Since ignorance is an abstract notion, it has no physical presence. You can be ignorant about some people, objects or even circumstances. You may not have loads of bookish knowledge, but you must try to know yourself above all. Attaining complete knowledge is the goal we strive toward.

If you are well-versed with the scriptures, then you know that there are three factors to take into consideration here.

  • Firstly, there is jiva which refers to individual lives in the world.
  • Secondly, we have jagat which refers to the human experience of the world.
  • Thirdly, they talk about Ishwara or God who is the ultimate Creator.

The Creator is responsible for both the jiva and the jagat, which is why it is one of the most important factors to study about. If you devote time and learn about the real nature of these factors and their connection to each other, you will find that you have attained knowledge which can prevent you from suffering in the future. You will be less likely to make mistakes as knowledge acts as a shield. Soon, you will become a happier and more content person.

How can you be free?

If you want to gain this valuable knowledge, then you need to study the Vedanta. You will find it towards the end of the Vedas. The Vedanta will help one understand one’s Self. It represents the culmination of all the precious knowledge in the world. It will tell you the Truth of everything so that you understand the interrelation between the individual, the World, and God.

When we are ignorant, we do not understand that these factors are not separate at all. Instead, they represent one Entity. Jnanam refers to real knowledge, and it relates to a state when we know about the existence of the Truth. On the other hand, Vijnanam or true wisdom is gained only when we get to experience that ourselves. That is the only way to attain liberation from sorrow.
